On one occasion, while Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (radhiyallahu ‘anhuma) was preparing to proceed for the Jumuah Salaah, he heard that his uncle, Hazrat Sa’eed bin Zaid (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) was very ill and he was in throes of death.
This news reached him at the time when he had already applied itr (perfume) to his body and was about to leave his home for the Jumuah salaah.
However, when he heard this news, he immediately mounted his animal and instead of going for the Jumuah salaah, he set out towards Aqeeq, the place where Hazrat Sa’eed (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) lived. Aqeeq was a place far from the town, where Jumuah salaah was not compulsory upon the people living there, as the conditions for the obligation of Jumuah salaah were not found.
Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (radhiyallahu ‘anhuma) went to Aqeeq and assisted in giving ghusal to Hazrat Sa’eed (radhiyallahu ‘anhu). After giving him Ghusl, he enshrouded him in the kafan and joined the people in performing his janaazah salaah.
