Farwah bin Nawfal narrates that once, Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (radhiyallahu anhu) spoke about Hazrat Muaaz bin Jabal (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) and highly praised him for the good he possessed. He said:<\/p>\n

\u0625\u0646\u00a0\u0645\u0639\u0627\u0630\u0627\u00a0\u0643\u0627\u0646 \u0623\u0645\u0629 \u0642\u0627\u0646\u062a\u0627 \u0644\u0644\u0647 \u062d\u0646\u064a\u0641\u0627<\/p>\n

\u201cMuaaz (bin Jabal) was an <\/em>ummah (a leader guiding others to the straight path), while he himself was completely devoted to the worship and obedience of Allah Ta\u2019ala, and he remained steadfast upon the straight path, without deviating from it in any way<\/em>.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

When Farwah bin Nawfal (rahimahullah) heard these great praises of Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) for Hazrat Muaaz bin Jabal (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu), he was surprised. He said, \u201cI thought to myself that perhaps Abdullah bin Masood (radhiyallahu anhu) has erred (in his statement when praising Hazrat Mu\u2019aaz (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu)), as such a praise is found in the Quraan Majeed for Hazrat Ebrahim (\u2018alaihis salaam). In the Quraan Majeed, Allah Ta\u2019ala praises Hazrat Ebrahim (alaihis salaam) saying,<\/p>\n

\u0625\u0646 \u0625\u0628\u0631\u0627\u0647\u064a\u0645 \u0643\u0627\u0646 \u0623\u0645\u0629 \u0642\u0627\u0646\u062a\u0627 \u0644\u0644\u0647 \u062d\u0646\u064a\u0641\u0627<\/p>\n

Perhaps, Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) perceived the surprise of Farwah bin Nawfal, so he mentioned to him, \u201cDo you know what \u201cUmmah\u201d and \u201cQaanit\u201d refer to (as is also mentioned in praise of Hazrat Ebrahim (alaihis salaam) in the Quraan Majeed?\u201d I replied, \u201cAllah knows best.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) then said to me, \u201cUmmah refers to the person who teaches people good (and guides them to deen); and Qaanit refers to the person who is obedient to Allah Ta\u2019ala and His Rasool (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) at all times. These qualities were found in Muaaz bin Jabal. He was always seen to be teaching people deen, while he also constantly remained obedient and submissive to Allah Ta\u2019ala and his Rasool (sallallahu alaihi wasallam).\u201d<\/p>\n

Saying these words, Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) explained to Farwah bin Nawfal that Hazrat Muaaz bin Jabal (radhiyallahu anhu) resembled Hazrat Ebrahim (\u2018alaihis salaam) in these two beautiful qualities, and thus he was also worthy of being praised for having these two beautiful qualities in his life.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
