On one occasion, while Hazrat Mugheerah bin Shu\u2019bah (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) was seated with some people in the Musjid of Kufah, Hazrat Sa\u2019eed bin Zayd (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) entered the masjid. Hazrat Mugheerah (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) greeted him and out of honour, he asked him to sit down on the raised platform in front of him.<\/p>\n
After a little while, a person of Kufah entered the masjid and began to insult and speak ill of a certain person. Hazrat Sa\u2019eed bin Zaid (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) asked Hazrat Mugheerah (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu), \u201cWho is this man talking about?\u201d Hazrat Mugheerah (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) replied, \u201cHe is insulting Ali bin Abi Taalib (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu).\u201d<\/p>\n
Hazrat Sa\u2019eed bin Zaid (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) became extremely angry and called Hazrat Mugheerah (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) by his name thrice, \u201cO Mugheerah bin Shu\u2019bah! O Mugheerah bin Shu\u2019bah! O Mugheerah bin Shu\u2019bah!\u201d He then said, \u201cWhy is it that I hear the companions of Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) being insulted in your presence and you are remaining silent and not stopping the person? I testify that I heard Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) mention a Hadith (in regard to his Sahaabah). I heard this Hadith with my own ears and my heart has preserved his words. I will not attribute any lie to Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam), on account of which I will be questioned by him when I meet him (on the day of Qiyaamah).\u201d<\/p>\n
Hazrat Sa\u2019eed bin Zaid (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) then mentioned, \u201cI heard Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) say, \u2018Abu Bakr is in Jannah; Umar is in Jannah; Ali is in Jannah; Uthmaan is in Jannah; Talhah is in Jannah; Zubair is in Jannah; Abdur Rahmaan is in Jannah; Sa\u2019d bin Maalik (i.e. Sa\u2019d bin Abi Waqqaas) is in Jannah.\u2019 Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) then took the name of a ninth person and also gave him the glad tidings of Jannah, and if I want to take his name now, then I can do so.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Muslims who were gathered in the masjid of Kufah at that time begged him saying, \u201cO companion of Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam), please inform us as to who is the ninth person.\u201d<\/p>\n
Hazrat Sa\u2019eed bin Zaid (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) replied, \u201cSince you people have asked me in the name of Allah Ta\u2019ala, I will inform you. I am the ninth person (who was given the glad tidings of Jannah by Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam)) and the tenth person was Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) (i.e. in this gathering, Hazrat Abu Ubaidah was not present but he was present in another gathering when Rasulullah sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam gave the glad tiding of Jannah to ten Sahaabah including him).\u201d<\/p>\n
Hazrat Sa\u2019eed bin Zaid (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) then took an oath and addressed the people saying, \u201cA single expedition, in which a Sahaabi participated with Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam), wherein his face got covered with dust, is greater and more virtuous (in the sight of Allah Ta\u2019ala) than (all) the actions of any one of you (who is not a Sahaabi), even if you were to be granted the lifespan of Nooh (\u2018alaihis salaam) [and you spent your entire life doing good deeds].\u201d (Musnad Ahmad #1629)<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" On one occasion, while Hazrat Mugheerah bin Shu\u2019bah (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) was seated with some people in the Musjid of Kufah, Hazrat Sa\u2019eed bin Zayd (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) entered the masjid.
