The Best Person of this Ummah

Hazrat Abu Dardaa radhiyallah anhu mentioned, “On one occasion, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) saw me walking in front of Hazrat Abu Bakr (radhiyallahu ‘anhu).

“When Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) had seen this, he addressed me saying, “Do not walk in front of the one who is better than you. (i.e Hazrat Abu Bakr (radhiyallahu anhu)””

Thereafter Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) explained the great virtue of Hazrat Abu Bakr (radhiyallahu anhu). Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “Abu Bakr (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) is the best person (of this ummah) upon whom the sun rose or set.” (Tabaraani & Majma‘uz Zawaa’id #14314)
