Hazrat Talhah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) in the Battle of Uhud

Hazrat Talhah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) in the Battle of Uhud

Hazrat Zubair bin Awwaam (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that on the occasion of Uhud, Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) wore a double armour.

During the battle, Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) intended climbing onto a rock but due to the weight of the double armour, he was unable to do so. He therefore requested Hazrat Talhah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) to sit down so that he could take support from him and climb onto the rock. Hazrat Talhah radhiyallahu anhu immediately sat down and assisted Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) to ascend the rock.

Hazrat Zubair (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) says that he heard Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) saying at that time, “It has become waajib for Talhah (i.e. Jannah has become waajib for Talhah).”[1]

In the battle of Uhud, Hazrat Talhah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) bravely accompanied Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) and protected him. Whenever the Sahaabah (radhiyallahu ‘anhum) discussed the battle of Uhud, they would say that this day (the day of Uhud) belonged to Hazrat Talhah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu). Hazrat Talhah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) had shielded Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) with his body. He received more than eighty wounds on his body, yet he did not leave the side of Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), even though his hand had become paralyzed due to the severe wounds.
